Perhaps not for the faint of heart...... *by B***A on Reviewed in the United States πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ on May 4, 2017* So after lots of fiddling and modifications, I have the cabinet on my wall. It looks good, it matches the style of the other's in the room, and it will serve it's purpose well.However, the amount of work that went into getting the thing looking nice and handing securely wasn't insignificant. And I have a lot of tools at my disposal, and an absurd amount of experience that makes figuring this stuff out and making modifications much more straightforward for me than it would be for your average person. I think of most of my co-workers trying to do this, and, well, it'd be a disaster.The cabinet is crazy heavy, because it's made of particle board with veneer over the top. I knew that when I ordered, so Ok, not really a thing, but it does make hanging it particularly difficult.The provided mount system involves securing two boards to the wall, then hanging the cabinet from the boards using matched, attached pieces on the cabinet.There is a little lip - perhaps 1/4 inch, on the wall piece that hooks onto a matching cabinet mount piece. This is similar to other cabinet mounting systems, but the small lip combined with the particle board the pieces are made of makes this one feel like too little to support the massive weight of the cabinet. Particle board has very little structural strength, and if that cabinet is not hanging completely strait - say, the top of your wall is a bit further out than the lower part - the forces on that little lip could be way more than the system can support. Make SURE you find the studs, or if you have studless walls, plan to think through the hanging process fully.That said, I was no where near comfortable with the provided mounting system. I cut down the back piece with a table saw (Thank you Grandpa!), then only installed the lower piece of the back before hanging. That allowed the cabinet to hang on the wall with the mount piece that is part of the cabinet exposed. I could then secure THAT mount piece to the wall itself. This avoids depending on the little particle board lip for support. (I installed the top part of the back after the upper part was secured. That hides all the mounting apparatus. I just made the cut so it'd hide behind a shelf. Of course, it only works if you have some room between the ceiling and the top of the box.... and if you wait to install the top of the cabinet until after it's hung. All in all a pain in the tukkas, but it does allow the cabinet to hang securely, so it was worth it to me.)Speaking of the back of the cabinet: The back is made from the worst oak printed cardboard fake-o stuff that is made, and it's color doesn't even match the wood of the rest of the cabinet. It looks cheap and draws attention to its ugliness , and really detracts. Unless you are going to stuff the cabinet completely full, plan to paint it or something. I did the paint thing, for lack of a better solution. Paint is far better than the fako look it started with.The back barely fits. Widthwise, the back is too large, and although it will go into the tracks it's intended to fit into, it bows out a bit. This is annoying and doesn't exactly scream quality.The glass for the doors was packed nicely and arrived unbroken- but I laughed with I saw the glass mounting system they provided, which involves these fiddly little very fake gold colored clips with tiny screws that you are supposed to somehow use to secure the glass. I grabbed my glazer points and mounted the glass in seconds that way -- but I'm not sure what your average person who doesn't have a glazer gun handy would do. (Thanks Grandpa!! Still getting use out of all those crazy tools you gave me!)One other small complaint: The way the cabinet is built, there is a gap between the bottom shelf and the decorative shaped piece that runs along the bottom of the cabinet. It is hidden by the doors when they are closed, but when the doors are open, you can see into the quarter inch gap. It's weird, and doesn't seem to make any sense that it would have been designed that way. No normal cabinet has this kind of gap between the pieces, and it just isn't quite right. It doesn't hurt the function or anything, but it's odd how it ends up looking.The veneer itself is fine, and even looks good -- and mine arrived with only one spot of damage - thankfully on the rear of the top piece, which in my application is really hard to see so I didn't really care. The color was perfect for my application, and at the end of the day I am happy with the look.It's hard to find a cabinet that is as shallow as this one is, and this one fit the space and style I wanted perfectly. Because of that, I was willing to do the extra work it required. But I'm not sure that most people would be able or willing, and honestly, it seems like the design and execution of the cabinet are ultimately kind of lacking. It's well made, sturdy and looks like it cost much more than it did. The instructions were basically one picture with extra details but since I've put together many items I could proceed without any mistakes. I can see how confusing it might be for a novice, though. If put together correctly its as sturdy as any pre-assembled item. I wanted a wall mount so I could see everything at eye level. Perfect! And easy to hang on wall; my husband did add a few extra screws to the mount to insure it was well anchored. The size was just as I expected based on the description. I'm using it for CDs only so everything fits perfect. I did notice though that there would be no wasted space if DVDs were placed on their sides. Each shelf would hold two DVD's on their side X as high as you'd like. Easier to read, too. The parts went together perfectly. I decided not to hang this on the wall but use it by an entry way and get extra dvd storage to boot. It looks wonderful and not put together. You do want to take your time to make sure you are putting it together properly. I have put together several cabinets and I found this piece superior in the quality. There are not many directions, but I had no problem figuring it out. It included pictures. All the holes lined up perfectly. I love how the back slid into the grooves on side, top, and bottom. No screws or nails necessary. The wall hangup system seemed very easy to install and easy to lift on and off but I was only going to mount it about 3" high anyway. It sits on the floor just fine. The materials were all high quality and I loved the oak.
