I doubt this would fit under a plane seat but I bought it because it is safely within the carry-on size dictated by international airlines and will easily fit in the overhead bin. It also rolls nicely when I have to dash to my connecting flight. My plan is to pack it with a few day's worth of clothing and essentials just in case my checked luggage gets lost.
