I could not return it because my mother had it delivered to her and then physically carried it up to me and does not understand how to do returns, so all I could do was smile and be grateful. Well it doesn't do anything for the hard cushions of the couch, the cover is soft to touch and my cat loves it. It's also easy to disguise the pillows I have to put on the couch to make it softer. Okay so, I can't say I wasn't warned some of the reviews mentioned this couch being being very close to the ground and quite uncomfortable without some sort of padding. But, I bought it anyways because it was small enough to fit in our 5th wheel living room! So, yeah I have to honestly say it is maybe 1ft to 1.5ft from the floor to the bottom of the cushions. And these cushions are awful thin for being a futon. But, for a 5'2 and 5'6 couple in a 5th wheel with a dog and a cat, this couch does fit in perfectly! Once we added proper padding of course! I can say it is structurally sound though!
