A: Hello Valerie,  It is not clearly written.  It says, Organic Black Elderberry (Sambucus nigra) juice concentrate.  Organic Acerola fruit (Malpighia glabra) extract.  Other ingredients Organic sugar cane, water, natural flavor from lemon juice.  I hope that helps.  Deanna

A: Our Black Elderberry products are all processed using heat.  Black Elderberry should be processed using heat, because the seeds in the berries contain cyanide (as do many seeds), however, the cyanide evaporates off at a very low temperature (78.26° F) . This product is pasteurized at 161°F.  Gaia Herbs Black Elderberry Syrup is made using the fresh pressed juice of elderberries, and is not made from seeds, stems, or leaves of the elderberries. This stuff is great. It’s a thicker consistency and seems more concentrated, but that said, the taste is quite bearable. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ My Go-To for Elderberry!

Since I wasn't able this year to make our own elderberry syrup, I looked into purchasing this already made. As a certified holistic nutritionist, I am exceptionally picky about my supplements. In full disclosure, I have long been a Gaia fan, so trying the Gaia elderberry syrup was a no-brainer for me. Gaia has long since checked all the boxes for me in terms of quality, construction, price point, & flavor. The construction is USDA certified organic, which is a huge plus. It is even sweetened with organic sugar, which is important to me. It is a very thick syrup & is higher on the sweet side than you might expect so if you are sensitive to sweetness it may be a little too sweet for your palate. I suppose you could cut it with a bit of water to reduce the sweetness if you desired. Dosing is super easy with the included measuring cup & specific instructions for both adult AND child on the bottle. I have used the syrup for both healing as well as daily maintenance & notice a HUGE difference in both applications. Taking it daily is great for overall immunity health maintenance. If ever I get to feeling a bit "off"/under the weather I take more than the daily maintenance recommends & by the next day I am right as rain. Keep in mind that all supplements work differently for each of us as individuals, there are amazing healing properties in elderberry regardless & I would highly recommend this product. Worth every penny.
