I can wear it with the eye port exposing just my eyes, or I can pull it down under my chin to expose the front of my face. I have two other balaclavas, one is tight enough that I cannot pull the port down under my chin, and the other is loose enough that it will not fit closely when I want to expose only my eyes. - Thickness. This would be the thickness of an activewear t-shirt. Which is pretty thin but not super thin. It fits under my full-face bicycle helmet very well. - Warmth. Good enough in windy 40 degree weather. The loose balaclava I have that is thicker will work for colder weather, but after using this one my actual preference would be to get a second one of these and layer it. It would fit better and probably still be thinner and thus better suited for helmet usage. - Transpiration.
