If it is stored in an 'unconditioned space' (garage) and you live in Death Valley....NO. If you live in San Francisco, no problem. It is a metal cabinet, so it should help transfer heat from router/switch to ambient temperature. But, I'm not sure whether your unit has a cooling fan, and how many watts this device will be consuming on average. **Q: Can a lock be installed ?** A: If you purchase the hinged door, then yes you can install a lock. **Q: Is the cover larger than the box** A: Yes, the cover extends past the dimensions of the box. I cut my drywall tight to the box and the cover covers over the drywall edge so you don't see it. **Q: Anyone use this behind the TV to hide the Samsung one connect box?** A: This enclosure is metal so it will interfere with WiFi signals.
