You can change which side the handle is on. - Got it installed yesterday. No issues at all other than i needed to go get longer bolts to go through the mounting surface. Heavily built for the 3500lb capacity. You do have to unbolt and move the handle toa different set of gears to change speeds, which is alkward, but common to almost every hand winch i've ever seen. Other reviews mention that the handle is on the "wrong" (left) side. Lol . . .Remove the spool, pop the C-clips out from the gear shafts, flip the shafts around, put the c-clips and spool back in with the gears on the side you want the handle on. It's basic mechanical engineering, folk! Be careful popping the c-clips, as they will fly far and wide.
