3M Scotch-Weld Structural Plastic Adhesive DP8010 Blue is a two-part acrylic adhesive specially formulated to bond many low surface energy plastics, including many grades of polypropylene, polyethylene, and thermoplastic elastomers (TPEs) without special surface preparation.

Review: Expensive but amazingly strong; a bit hard to work. Successfully repaired polypropylene car bumper - Expensive, but strong. Definitely worth it if you need to make a critical repair, especially on low surface energy materials that don't take to traditional adhesives. A tab completely snapped off of my polypropylene car bumper, and this was able to easily and securely reattach it. I was amazed at how strong the repair was over a very thin and narrow bond line. However, it does come with its quirks. First, you need to have the proper dispensing gun: I got a compatible generic one off of eBay since the genuine 3M guns are expensive, especially for a DIYer. Next, you definitely want to get the 3M mixing nozzles. Getting the right ratio squirting and mixing by hand is very difficult; I tried this once and it probably had just a little to much activator which significantly reduced the work time. Finally, it's a little harder to work since it's thicker and doesn't really run. You also need to make sure the repair gap isn't so small that all the adhesive gets squeezed out, or else your repair won't stick. For those types of really thin/close fitting repairs, you might be better off using superglue and a LSE material primer since it's a lot better at wicking into cracks
Review: Supposed to be great stuff - They say that for many types of plastics, this is absolutely *the* best adhesive you can possibly get. You *do* need mixing tips; you should use the special gun to extrude it as well. I had the special 10:1 tips, and improvised the gun with my laser cutter. Still, neither of the two things I glued with it worked at all. Now, I'm no polymer materials engineer or plastic chemist, so maybe I just happened to pick the wrong types of plastics (and the AI I consulted about it was also wrong), but I'm pretty sure this isn't going to make a bond that's anywhere near as strong as the underlying material (like you can get with other materials and adhesives). And not only is this stuff expensive, all the paraphernalia you need to use it is also expensive. Also, word to the wise: Lots of chemical products say "use in a well-ventilated area", etc., and most of us nod and avoid huffing whatever it is. I definitely recommend you use this stuff in a *well*-ventilated area. It's definitely an eye/airway irritant.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: Will this epoxy work on a Kayak made of polyethylene? There is a crack of 6 inch on top of kayak.**
A: It will fix it, recommend you have a patch of rigid plastic you are gluing behind the crack to give it more rigidity. Something that can flex will give it trouble. It will leave a rough residue after it cures and shrinks which you can sand down.

**Q: Will this bond aluminum to hdpe for below waterine use? if not which product would you recommend**
A: I can’t answer your question directly but I used it for HDPE to HDPE and I think it worked. You can mix a small amount and give it a test. I would definitely degrease both materials well and sand them with rough paper too.

**Q: is it waterproof? Flexible?**
A: After the long curing period..... it is water proof and semi flexible

**Q: Is there a dispenser /applicator to work with this?**
A: Do not use the dispenser advertised with this product. The plunger has two sides and the smaller of the two is too large for that side. False information.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Best Glue for Plastic Hardtop
*by A***O on 19 January 2025*

I glued the hardtop on my 1997 Geo Tracker, with a Pro-Top hardtop. It worked perfect super strong. Takes 2 days to dry. Make sure you find the correct gun to dispense it. Only 2 companies offer it.
