Core Radiology: A Visual Approach to Diagnostic Imaging New Edition

As an almost graduating 4th year who has seen the Core exam and been pimped for 4 years, this is a must read for all radiology residents. Excellent review of salient points and popular pimp questions. Seems to be the needed "depth" of review as well. If I needed more info, I found a corresponding radiographics article or looked stuff up from the reference sections. It's meant to be a review, not a text.Diagrams are awesome and a breath of fresh air. Tons of images also assist with the pertinent facts. While I would not consider this a replacement for Brant and Helms, or primer, it is very new and has many things that are up and coming that I haven't necessarily found in the other two books.I also find it interesting that many of my staff like the looks of it and are buying it as a review text themselves. Definitely worth the money. I would buy again in a heartbeat

Excellent to read during the first and second year of radiology residency. My residency now has a weekly conference where the first years read CORE sections and discuss. They started with Brant and Helms but it was too dense obviously. CORE is in bullet point format if you're into that. There is another great text for radiology but it's in dense paragraph form. Overall, CORE is great! I actually "chopped" the book into sections and using it to study (with other resources) for the CORE exam. I'm sure for the CORE exam this book is lacking the proper amount of images but that's ok just Google them.

This book is great! It breaks things down in a simple manner and is very straightforward. I do want to mention, however, that it's not all encompassing. It's a great book for a first year resident to read to get the basics down, after that you'll want to move on to something that has a lot more details. However, great book to start with. It has a lot of cartoon images which are useful.Note: I just finished first year radiology residency, and this book has been very useful.

I haven't taken boards yet, but compared to other references and study guides this seems to me to be the best overall one book source review out there!Very thorough high yield material for exam prep that is clearly written by a resident who had to go through this whole process for the boards and not some academic physician who gets too into small details, that while pertinent, aren't the highest priority come exam time.Neuro, MSK and Breast are excellent.Its a little short on IR and physics but the material is still great.Wish I had this book as a first year to use for quick reviews before rotations.

If you're a radiology resident this is essentially the "First Aid" for Core. Well organized book, very concise and high yield. This gets a lot of use in our program.

Great book! As someone who just found out they passed the core exam I thought this book was a SOLID review. I read it while I was studying before I went into more depth on each subject and found it was great. Then the four days before the test it was all I did and I reread (skimmed) the entire book. Helped put things into their proper places in my head before the test. I also wish I had this book as a first year because a lot of the stuff is very basic and having it all organized neatly in one book is great. I loved having the hard copy of the book and even though it was huge I carried it around with my for weeks while I was studying. I would HIGHLY recommend this.

Good notes. I wish there were an online version available with hard copy purchase.

Simply a must have book. No one is saying it should be the ONLY thing you read in residency, but this book address all pimping questions in a distilled, easy to read, high yield format. Great images, great mnemonics. If you get bored with Brant and Helms, take a break with this much easier to read review book.
