IMHO it does not make it quieter per se but reduced the nails on chalkboard whine (which is what annoys everybody) down to a more throat noise that does not feel like it is stabbing your eardrums or an incoming attack froma phalanx of mosquitos. That being said, it is still loud. I noticed right away increased stability when in normal and sport and bettet control authority when in manual.
