Dragon Ball Z: The History of Trunks / Bardock: The Father of Goku (Double Feature) [DVD]

It deserves 5 stars, superb, almost purely underrated(History of Trunks). The original post-apocalyptic timeline. Inevitable destiny. A relateable vibe in one way, or in way.

It’s not disappointing. It’s a dark side to the dragon ball z series. Definitely worth a watch. I’ve watched it a few times over after that cuz it’s really good

To no one's surprise, when the dragon balls (or other Deux Ex Machinas) are removed from the plot, we end up with more compelling (not to mention more meaningful) narratives elevating the series to new heights.While both movies are great and worth the while, my favorite is: The History of Trunks. Heck, it's even an amazing standalone movie with no prior Dragon Ball knowledge required, but with it, the theme is evidently more poetically beautiful, and the payoff, super cathartic. It's one of my top 50 movies of all time!Oh, and canon or not, Bardock: The Father of Goku is a way cooler background story for Bardock and the Saiyans. Not fond of Dragon Ball Super: Broly movie retcon that makes him discount Jor-El.

Arrived in good condition. Sets have a great picture, relatively unaltered considering what FUNIMATION typically does to DBZ home media releases. Biggest downside is the 16:9 aspect ratio. These specials originally aired on TV in 4:3 so you’re missing part of the picture.I wish the set included a slipcover, but I knew it didn’t on purchase so I’m not gonna take off stars for that. MOST original American music is in tact, including the licensed songs and one-off openings. The only thing missing was the credits song for the Trunks Special, and it instead plays the normal Japanese credits music.All in all it’s a decent release, especially by normal standards with this series.

Any of the dragonball z movies in Blu-ray are a must buy and highly recommended. You have the option of switching from Japanese to English soundtracks in your settings menu. Japanese being the original and English being hard rock. Excellent quality that is crystal clear. Would highly recommend if you want to know how goku came to be or if you want to know why future trunks traveled back to the past. Pricing is great.

This is a must own for any Dragon Ball fans this set is up there with the broly films.

PS3で日本語音声、英語字幕を消して視聴できました。PS4では試していません。放送当時はブラウン管にVHSなので画質や音には期待しておらず…BDで見られるだけ有り難いくらいの気持ちです。バーダックの話を久しぶりに観たくて購入しました。決戦シーンが記憶していたのものよりも意外とあっさりしていて、呆気なさがいい味でした。ラディッツどこ？セットでトランクスのテレビスペシャルも入っていてお得です。このエピソードの大人悟飯が本当に格好いい！！と子供ながらに思っていて、やっぱり格好良かったです！！

I purchased this with the Series 3 Dragonball Z Remastered BoxSet, I have previously purchased season 1 and 2 of the remastered series and all 3 series have worked successfully. However this Double Feature DVD did not work on my english dvd player- which is quite odd as it does specify on the back NTSC 1,2 and 4 which 2 is the region we belong in so unfortunately this DVD does not work in the UK but fortunately for me my friend can make a copy of the discs into our Region just beware it seems not all of the remastered series and films work in the UK but I can confirm series 1,2 and 3 all work just not this dvd. However I have watched it and it is amazing and I love the widescreen feature in all of the boxsets and films DBZ simply never looked better- Dragonball Remastered soon I hope...

Nothing special to say really its the Dragonball we all love and the Bardock movie is my absolute favorite among all Dbz movies as it has the most bad ass rock music in it not to mention the lore as its cannon is great and doesnt let down Manga readers of Dbz.The picture quality is great so can really recommend this to any Dbz fans and for those dvd case enthusiast out there, you can be happy to know the steelcase is of a really nice quality and doesnt let down.
