This is a specially designed system that has an anti-scale cartridge that purified the water on its way into the tank which will reduce any lime scale build up. Also, another filter is used to capture any lime scale that does manage to enter the system which can then be easily emptied and cleaned by rinsing under the tap. So we have found that so far there is no need to use descaler **Q: Does it have auto shut off?** A: no it does not have auto shut off **Q: Difference between series 1, 2 & 3 for this iron?** A: The 1, is supposed to be the basic but it’s got everything you need **Q: Is it normal for the iron to produce some sort of β€œ gir gir sound when the steam button is pressed to produce steam?** A: Our iron does the same it could be that the iron is not quite ready to produce steam, it seems sometimes that you should not leave it too long before you start ironing if you leave it too long it seems to go into a sort of standby mode, overall though this is a great iron. ## Frequently Bought Together - Russell Hobbs Steam Iron [2600W,120 g/min continuous steam] SteamPower (60sec heat up, 4.5 bar pressure, 1.3L tank, non-stick stainless steel soleplate, anti-limescale, Continuous fill) 24430 - Minky Ergo Extra Thick Elasticated Replacement Ironing Board Cover, Black, 122 x 38 cm - Russell Hobbs Iron Cartridge, Black, Standard --- ## Why Shop on Desertcart? - πŸ›’ **Trusted by 1.3+ Million Shoppers** β€” Serving international shoppers since 2016 - 🌍 **Shop Globally** β€” Access 737+ million products across 21 categories - πŸ’° **No Hidden Fees** β€” All customs, duties, and taxes included in the price - πŸ”„ **15-Day Free Returns** β€” Hassle-free returns (30 days for PRO members) - πŸ”’ **Secure Payments** β€” Trusted payment options with buyer protection - ⭐ **TrustPilot Rated 4.5/5** β€” Based on 8,000+ happy customer reviews **Shop now:** [https://www.desertcart.co.za/products/69394077-russell-hobbs-steam-iron-2600w-120-g-and-min-continuous](https://www.desertcart.co.za/products/69394077-russell-hobbs-steam-iron-2600w-120-g-and-min-continuous) --- *Product available on Desertcart South Africa* *Store origin: ZA* *Last updated: 2026-10-23*
