The "blank-up" plate is used to cover the exposed hole left in the ceiling by unused & abandoned 6 or 7-Inch diameter can lights. The smooth, white powder coated finish blends with white ceiling paint for a pleasing display in any finished space. The plate covers the entire fixture hole and prevents heat loss and risk of shock if the socket is energized and open. The tapered, 1/4” outside edge seats firmly against the ceiling surface and prevents heat loss through the fixture opening as well as insect entry. Screw the non conductive threaded hub into the light socket, and connect the spring to the hub eyelet and then stretch and connect it to the cover plate bracket. ## Features - 8-INCH DIAMETER: The "blank-up" plate is used to cover the exposed hole left in the ceiling by unused & abandoned 6 or 7-Inch diameter can lights. - ATTRACTIVE APPEARANCE: The smooth, white powder coated finish blends with white ceiling paint for a pleasing display in any finished space. - STAY SAFE: The plate covers the entire fixture hole and prevents heat loss and risk of shock if the socket is energized and open. - ECONOMICALLY EFFICIENT: The tapered, 1/4” outside edge seats firmly against the ceiling surface and prevents heat loss through the fixture opening as well as insect entry. - EASY-TO-INSTALL: Screw the non conductive threaded hub into the light socket, and connect the spring to the hub eyelet and then stretch and connect it to the cover plate bracket. ## Technical Specifications | Specification | Value | |---------------|-------| | Asin | B00DOGC7T4 | | Best Sellers Rank | #393,647 in Tools & Home Improvement (See Top 100 in Tools & Home Improvement) #543 in Electrical Outlet Covers | | Brand Name | GARVIN | | Color | White | | Configuration | Single | | Customer Reviews | 4.5 4.5 out of 5 stars (170) 4.5 out of 5 stars | | Finish Types | Powder Coated,Steel | | Installation Type | Recessed | | Item Dimensions W X H | 8"W x 8"H | | Item Weight | 4 ounces | | Manufacturer | Garvin Industrial | | Manufacturer Part Number | FBA_CBC-800 | | Material Type | Steel | | Model Number | FBA_CBC-800 | | Number Of Packs | 7 | | Switch Type | Decorator | | Unit Count | 1 Count | | Upc | 797201441762 733353980292 785592984357 | ## Product Details - **Brand:** GARVIN - **Color:** White - **Finish Type:** Powder Coated,Steel - **Material:** Steel - **Product Dimensions:** 8"W x 8"H ## Images ![Garvin CBC-800 Recessed Blank-Up Cover Plate, 8-Inch Diameter, Steel, White - Image 1](https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/61f+p7lZlkL.jpg) ![Garvin CBC-800 Recessed Blank-Up Cover Plate, 8-Inch Diameter, Steel, White - Image 2](https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/71R1s78DMdL.jpg) ![Garvin CBC-800 Recessed Blank-Up Cover Plate, 8-Inch Diameter, Steel, White - Image 3](https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/51H0JWqnjcL.jpg) ## Customer Reviews ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ easy to install and paintable *by on Reviewed in the United States December 19, 2020* used this to cover an off-center recessed light. it works great and will blend better when we paint it but we've already forgotten it's there. then we used a separate kit to reinforce a recessed light and install a traditional fixture over our kitchen table. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ This is a perfect way to hide an old recessed light *by on Reviewed in the United States September 29, 2024* I saw some reviews that this product is expensive. However, it is very well made and is very easy to install. It is the safest way to hide a recessed light fixture that has rusted out or no longer needed. I recommend spending the money. All the other ones I found are very cheap and don't sit properly against the ceiling. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ I cannot believe I spent $35 on this thing *by on Reviewed in the United States February 10, 2026* As an electrician's daughter i've just come to realize over the years that electrical things that wouldn't bother "normal" people bother the hell out of me. The builder of my house went ham on putting hi hats in our first floor open concept kitchen/living area and it was way too bright, even with a dimmer. I haven't had a bulb in one of them in several years and looking up at this black hole irritated me to no end. We have 12' ceilings and the hi hats take BR lamps which are longer than a normal flood-style looking lamps so the hole looked deep and dark and massive lolI have been looking for a blank cover plate to cover this hole up FOREVER and never quite found the right one that I could use without taking the trim out (I didn't want to leave a rough edge). This was exactly what I was looking for but jfc why is it $35?? This is the only reason why it wasn't rated 5 stars tbh, even tho it really does deserve it. I literally cannot believe I spent that much on this thing but it's pretty perfect did exactly what I was hoping for. The mid-sized spring worked perfectly and it snapped up right into place and the width of the plate covered up the entire trim ring completely. Our ceilings are painted antique white and the plate is white but from an angle and a distance it blends in pretty well. (Again, something that I see and notice but nobody else would prob even see it). ## Frequently Bought Together - Garvin CBC-800 Recessed Blank-Up Cover Plate, 8-Inch Diameter, Steel, White - Arlington CP9000 9-Inch Spring Mount Ceiling Plate cover, 1-Pack, White --- ## Why Shop on Desertcart? - πŸ›’ **Trusted by 1.3+ Million Shoppers** β€” Serving international shoppers since 2016 - 🌍 **Shop Globally** β€” Access 737+ million products across 21 categories - πŸ’° **No Hidden Fees** β€” All customs, duties, and taxes included in the price - πŸ”„ **15-Day Free Returns** β€” Hassle-free returns (30 days for PRO members) - πŸ”’ **Secure Payments** β€” Trusted payment options with buyer protection - ⭐ **TrustPilot Rated 4.5/5** β€” Based on 8,000+ happy customer reviews **Shop now:** [https://www.desertcart.co.za/products/6787334-garvin-cbc-800-recessed-blank-up-cover-plate-8-inch](https://www.desertcart.co.za/products/6787334-garvin-cbc-800-recessed-blank-up-cover-plate-8-inch) --- *Product available on Desertcart South Africa* *Store origin: ZA* *Last updated: 2026-10-23*
