The thickness is very important to me and this mat is thicker than most mats online, but a little thinner than the mats you buy in a store. I am very happy with the thickness of this one because it feels heavy duty and looks well made. I am also happy with the size. It sheds a little when you’re handling it, but not when it’s in its spot. It feels soft under the feet, yet sturdy enough to use as an outdoor mat. I placed it on another decorative rug and it doesn’t slip around very much. Most rugs do move around. The design that’s painted on seems well done. It’s dark and thick leading me to believe it won’t wear off. I am extremely happy with this coir mat and recommend it to anyone looking for a beautiful, quality mat.
