They had the power nd build quality to last for years. My oldest one is now a 2. 1 channel set up for listening and PC audio boost. It about 20 years old now. But even with that type of time and not breaking down I still wouldn't go back. To get this type of set up with the Elite line of Pioneer AVRs you would pay 2.5 times as much and maybe get a little over half the features of the Onkyo. Solid purchase for anyone thinking about it. Also, don't fall for the vlogs talking about never buy it because they have an issue...that was a different era for Onkyo, ran by different product management. This one isn't them anymore.

Amazing receiver, this is an upgrade for an old Denon avr-589 and the sound out of this baby is great! I am using a pair of definitive bp10 towers and a definitive descend DN8 subwoofer (plus a procenter 1000 and two Old Boston rear speakers), and after Dirac live calibration this sounds really well. I mostly listen to music on my turntable and also use TIDAL from the proprietary app, so far so great! Would totally recommend this unit to anyone looking for an affordable option that can be used with Dirac Live
