Review: HONEST REVIEW // Photographer’s friend, offering speed, fun, creativity and awesome quality images - I bought this lens almost an year ago and have been using it with Nikon D7000 and Nikon D3300 . I personally own a few other lens from Nikon ,including telephoto zoom ,kit and prime . If you are really into photography then going for a prime lens would be a wise decision . Also a 50mm prime lens is always recommended because it will give you a better bokeh effect (in some cases) .You just have to stand a few feet away from the object to take a perfect shot. #IMAGE QUALITY: This lens is hands down amazing. Paired with my D3200, it really does offer stunning photos. The autofocus is fast and accurate, however sometimes focus seems to stray from my subject. The first thing you will notice about this lens over the 1.8D is that color are so much more vivid. Because I had to manually focus with the 1.8D, photos weren't always tack sharp. This lens is very sharp. The best part about it is that its way sharper than the 1.8D at wider apertures. I mainly shoot from f2.2 - f2.8 and sharpness kills the 1.8D. #BETTER BOKEH EFFECT: Bokeh is the background blur you see in DSLR shots. Nowadays you can create a good bokeh effect using software itself. But trust me prime lens bokeh looks way more natural, accurate and PERFECT.So if you want that really smooth and creamy bokeh, this lens is the way to go. #REASONS TO BUY - takes PHENOMENAL portraits -This lens does incredibly well in low-light situations, especially if you keep it at the lowest aperture and low shutter speed. - Perfectly usable wide-open (unlike the 1.8D) - Very sharp with The “SLR Look” - Little to no flaring - Excellent color reproduction and contrast - True professional performance for very little money - Built like a plastic tank -Macro Photography: (hack:))reverse the lens and hold it near the body of the camera. - Fits well in the hand and is very light - Well thought out ergonomics - Manual focus override of AF - Great lens hood Cons: - Small amount of barrel distortion - Only stops down to f/16 (the 1.8D went to f/22) - Slight play in the manual focus (manual override makes up for this) - Distance scale could be better - AF could be faster Overall the Nikon 50mm 1.8G is a photographer’s friend, offering speed, fun, creativity and awesome quality images. This lens is a versatile, quick reach companion for any photographer’s lens collection.I would highly recommend this if you are getting serious about your photography and also for casual shots. Thanks for reading.I hope my review provided all the information for a well informed and wise purchase decision. Hope it helps! Regards Abraham
Review: The best prime lens! - I purchased this 50 mm prime lens after a thorough research. This is one of the BEST lens that you can lay your hands on (for the budget conscious). Once you start using this, you won't ever want to get back to using the 18-55 mm standard lens that comes with the kit. I have used the standard 18-55 mm lens only on a couple of occasions on my Nikon D5100 and was not too happy with the results, since I was accustomed to great picture quality of this 50 mm lens. The bokeh and background blur effects are simply amazing and smooth. And so is the picture clarity. You will get beautiful photos even in low light conditions. The lens comes with both Auto/Manual focus, which is very useful. However when you want to take group photos (of more than 3-4 people) in closed areas, you will have to struggle a bit, as you wont have enough room to back off to take in all the group. But this is a 50mm lens and this is the expected behavior. If you like photography and mostly take pics of family functions etc., this is probably the best lens that you can lay your hands on. You can later buy a 35 mm lens too, to be able to take good photos in tight/closed areas. As for the price, I purchased this lens for Rs. 8460/- exactly 3 months ago and I think it's a great deal! Right now the price has come down to Rs.7944/-, which is a great bargain. Go for this lens! You wont EVER regret! P.S: Attached is a sample photo taken this lens. This

## Questions & Answers

**Q: nikon 50mm f/1.8g vs. nikon 50mm f/1.4g... which one?**
A: The 1.8G is newer and honestly, based on reviews, is the better lens and is way cheaper. The difference is 2/3 of a stop from 1.8 to 1.4. Unless you do a lot of dimly to dark lit photography and need a fast shutter speed, then go with the 1.4. Otherwise the 1.4 is the better bang for the buck IMHO.

**Q: Could you comment on the merits of 50mm F 1.8 vs. 85 mm F 1.8 for portrait photography much of which will just be shot in the home on a D7100.**
A: Either lense is fine for portrait use though, but I prefer to keep portraits to around 50-85mm so on my aps-c sensor body it left me with one choice. A fx lens on a dx body has a focal length of 1.5x the rating. So a 50mm on a D7100 comes out to a 75mm, and the 85mm lens acts like a 127.rmm lens. For this reason I chose the 50mm F1.8 lens. It has nice bokeh and since the length isn't too long the portrait image still has some depth and isn't flattened.

**Q: Will the autofocus work on 50mm f/1.8G AF-S Nikkor lens for the D3200?**
A: Yes, the auto-focus will work. But remember this is an FX lens. Your DX D3200 camera will register it as a 75mm lens rather than a 50mm lens.

**Q: Will it autofocus on D5300?**
A: I have the D5100... I would only be assuming it would focus on the d5300.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Makes an Amateur feel Professional
*by D***N on 13 November 2018*

So i got these after a recommendation from a professional photographer friend of mine. The reason I got the Nifty 50 (nick name) is for that background blur to portraits. I've had this for a week now and after like 500 clicks am beginning to get hands on with it. I like the results and quiet honestly it has that professional feel and there's a nice focus on the subject going on, I like the background blur that's playing for most of the pics I clicked with these. I'm more of an amateur and its already making me feel like a pro, there's very little editing needed for me after that. I would definitely recommend this if your looking to get that depth to your portraits and if you want to highlight your subjects, this ones a good deal.
