No ! The Sole is made from soft 4mm thick Neoprene. and they are only suitable or intended for wearing on smooth surfaces or indoors **Q: With they protect your feet from hot Tarmac?** A: I would think so although there is no information about the sole material provided so I would not stand still . There is a possibility that in extreme heat the sole might also melt. These are after all the cheap and cheerful end of the market. But they are supremely comfortable, feel just like walking barefoot, except that I can walk over sharp large gravel in these with no pain whereas barefoot it would be excruciating. I like them so much have just ordered a second pair in a different colour and wear them all the time. **Q: What's the quickest way to dry and can they be tumble dried?** A: I don't think they are suitable for tumble dryers, I just wring as much water out as possible and then leave them in the sun, hanging up if possible. I use mine in an outdoor pool in the south of France (sorry if that sounds pretentious but the summer heat dries them very quickly). They slip a little on the black lane lines on the floor of the pool so I keep off those during aqua aerobics. I am on my second pair after 6 months of twice weekly use . The sole on one was damaged by a sharp tile in the swimming pool which then caused the non slip material to fray and disintegrate quickly.
