The Klein Tools ET450 Advanced Circuit Tracer Kit is a professional tracer for energized and non-energized breakers, fuses, and wires. When the Transmitter is connected to a circuit, the Receiver's sensitivity can easily be adjusted to detect the transmitted signal on breakers, fuses, and wire through drywall, cement block, and underground. Kit comes with transmitter, receiver, blade and ground prongs, alligator clips, 3-Foot and 20-Foot lead adapters, AC plug leads, instructions, all required batteries, and a hard carrying case with handle for convenient transportation and storage.

Review: This is worth it! - This tool is a necessity for anyone working with electricity as it also works on live circuits. It will help you find hidden wires just about anywhere. One of the best cases was trying to find a ~20 year old buried cable outdoors where trees have grown up and the people that originally buried it must have been drunk because the line went in very odd multiple directions and power didn’t come out the other end about 300’ away. Turns out there was a buried splice in the ground about 1.5’ down where someone had spliced the line (went somewhere else into the back 40 🙄) only taped the connection (no marrets) and tried to encase it all in fiberglass 😂 I would never have found that without this tool. If you wanted to install lag bolts into a wall, the price of this tool for a one time use would be worth the cost to make sure a wire wasn’t in the way or you’d instantly be into more money to fix it if you needed to call an electrician to install a new wire.

**Q: Can this find a dead short?**
A: Depends on the situation.  It’s more for finding the cable pathway, but could help find a dead short.

**Q: Can this unit trace wires that are in flex?**
A: Yes

**Q: Can I trace from a light fixture back to a switch? (I can not find how to turn on a few lights in my new house)**
A: this tracer work's better on energized circuits but will also work with de-energized circuits. if your light is not energized, then hook up the transmitter to it and then use the receiver to follow the wire through walls and ceilings to find your switch. You may have to set the detection level higher on the receiver for this use.

**Q: Will this tracer generate an audible tone when connected to 14/2 speaker wire?**
A: Don’t know. I’m deaf and just look at the visual readout.

This tool is a necessity for anyone working with electricity as it also works on live circuits. It will help you find hidden wires just about anywhere. One of the best cases was trying to find a ~20 year old buried cable outdoors where trees have grown up and the people that originally buried it must have been drunk because the line went in very odd multiple directions and power didn’t come out the other end about 300’ away. Turns out there was a buried splice in the ground about 1.5’ down where someone had spliced the line (went somewhere else into the back 40 🙄) only taped the connection (no marrets) and tried to encase it all in fiberglass 😂 I would never have found that without this tool. If you wanted to install lag bolts into a wall, the price of this tool for a one time use would be worth the cost to make sure a wire wasn’t in the way or you’d instantly be into more money to fix it if you needed to call an electrician to install a new wire.

Lo compre porque requiero un equipo que sea capaz de detectar y rastrear cables enterrados o en paredes, ademas de poder rastrear interruptores. Encontre este equipo, que si bien se puede utilizar para cosas caseras, por su precio y sensibilidad es mas bien para condiciones y trabajos comerciales o industriales. La sensibilidad es ajustable, pues como el generador de señal es muy potente, la señal puede difuminarse en interruptores o zonas adyacentes, pero para eso tiene un metodo de conexion que permite eliminar ligeramente la amplia distribucion de señal. El equipo se ve, se siente y tiene funciones avanzadas, es muy robusto, grande y a la vez facil de utilizar. Viene con varios accesorios para conectar el generador de señal a diferentes necesidades y su instructivo de uso es muy sencillo en caso que no hayas utilizado algun equipo similar. Lo que mas me gusto es que la potencia de señal es muy fuerte, tanto que pude rastrear cables hasta unos 50 cm de distancia y en otras condiciones hasta casi 1 metro. Lo que me gusto tambien es su robustes, es de uso rudo y de uso sencillo. Lo que no me gusto es la gran cantidad de baterias que utiliza, aunque lo usare con baterias recargables, viene con 10 baterias 2AA incluidas. Lo que no me gusto es que la sensibilidad sea ajustable manualmente y no de forma automatica segun se vaya acercando o alejando del rastreo objetivo. Pero en terminos generales estoy muy satisfecho con este equipo y definitivamente lo recomiendo.
