I was hoping to skip the powder as it's a mess. These are super easy to clean up and do help some. I did not notice any spillage or odor. I did notice a decrease in a few days bit that's it. I finally put out some powder and the problem is gone. You should take care as to where you place these so children or pets can't get them. How long are these things supposed to last?** A: They aren't drying out, the roaches are lapping up the liquid. Evaporation of all of the liquid would take just over a month. The bait station works on a principle similar to vaping or kerosene lamps. There is a wick that runs from the bottom of the reservoir to the hole at the top and it pulls up only enough to moisten the tip of the wick, which is where the roaches feed on it before carrying the poison back to the nest, where it is spread throughout the population. While a little is constantly lost through evaporation, there is not enough loss to empty it in a couple of weeks. Only feeding will do that. Hope my response helps. We live in apartments where, until recently, the landlord didn't do much to fight the things off. These are the only baits we found that would knock the numbers down, usually within 48 hours. Great product! **Q: #1 can they be set at different angles? #2 What about the guarantee?
