Review: Turn off the VGA switch! - I am using this motherboard with the AMD Threadripper PRO 7975WX. Right now it works nice and solid, very stable. I love this board. But when I first installed the motherboard, I was very frustrated pulling my hairs out because Windows 11 Pro for Workstations kept getting corrupted during installation and every time I installed the NVIDIA graphics card driver it would get stuck in an endless boot loop. After days of troubleshooting and fear of having to find the needle in the haystack bad component and dealing with return delays, I found the culprit! It turns out all these problems were caused by the onboard VGA controller, and when I turned off the little VGA-enable switch on the motherboard, everything went from unstable to rock solid! The Windows 11 install and NVIDIA drivers went real smooth after turning off the VGA switch. This VGA feature is intended for server rooms and I think ASUS should make people more aware of the pitfalls of leaving this switch enabled. There are some reviews here reporting defective operation of some boards, and I bet there's a 99% chance it's caused by this stupid little switch being on. There is one other tip to point out, the installation manual description of the CPU power connectors is incorrect. I spoke with ASUS tech support on the phone and they acknowledged they are going to escalate this mistake and fix the manual. The CPU has four power headers: CPU1, CPU2, PCI_CPU1, and PCI_CPU2. The manual illustration indicates to plug in just one of the CPU power headers if you have a single power supply. However, I found that the motherboard won't even power on unless I plug in the two main CPU power headers. I also plugged in the two PCI_CPU headers to be on the safe side. Additionally, there are two supplemental PCI power headers for the PCI slots next to the main ATX power plug. While the manual says this is only needed if you have two or more graphics cards, I found that the BIOS startup screen complained when I didn't have at least one of them supplied with power because I have two PCIe cards (a GPU plus an M.2 SSD card). These are not two GPUs, but just two different cards. At some point ASUS will fix the install manual based on my phone call. Simply get a good high capacity PSU and plug in ALL the power headers instead of picking and choosing which one, and you're good. Note that this is an EEB form factor, which is quite large. You don't necessarily "need" an EEB specific case however. I was able to get it to fit great in an ASUS ProArt PA602 Wood Edition case (ATX/EATX size case). I simply had to re-arrange the standoffs in different spots and skip 3 of the standoffs on the right edge of the board (not really needed, the motherboard is plenty secure with the rest of them). I have a total of 8 M.2 PCIe 5th gen SSDs (Crucial T705). The motherboard has slots for 4 of them and I am also using the ASUS Hyper M.2 PCI card for another 4 (plugged into the first PCI slot since the first two slots support gen 5 speed in bifurcation mode). I have 32TB of BLAZING FAST storage, I love it! Adjusting the fan curves is split between the BIOS settings and IPMC web admin. The fan speed adjustments for the VRM, M.2, and USB4 heatsinks are in the BIOS. The CPU and chassis fan curves can be set in the BMC which allows firmware-level computer management over the network (first you'll have to set an IP address in the BMC section of the BIOS to access the IPMC web settings). I HIGHLY RECOMMEND this board for creative pros, AI, software development, engineering, etc. This is the best sTR5 socket board on the market right now for Threadripper PRO. I'm very happy with it.
Review: Low quality, ship with embedded vulnerable software - The board has high mass which create an illusion of high quality product, it is not!!! 1. Numerous issues with bios and memory compatibilities, 2. Installed with atrocious and vulnerable BNC which is the worst, crashing, slow, you can disable it which sometimes prevent the motherboard from booting. Avoid at all cost, does not worth the price, low quality bios code, low quality hardware

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Expensive, but Exceptional Motherboard. Perfect for AI and Gaming Rigs.
*by P***Y on 25 March 2026*

This motherboard is probably the best one on the market for an AI server build. It is feature rich. Or course, anyone reading this would probably already know that! Features that I find great about this board is the firmware can be updated even if it doesn't have a CPU or RAM installed. It is an easy way to check the board and make sure it works before installing the CPU, heat sink, etc. It takes about 8-10 minutes to update though. Have to give it time to complete. No monitor or anything to watch to see what it is doing. Just lights on the motherboard. Simple process though. Save a file to a thumb drive. Press the firmware button and power it on. This board is built well. Sturdy and clearly designed to handle high powered components. It is built like a tank, but one still has to be careful with it. It is a heavy and long board. Would be easy to damage or drop it. It is nice that it has 4 NVME slots. They are a bit finicky to access and install. They are mounted below heat sink covers. Whatever NVME you want should be installed first. They end up under everything when the server motherboard is fully assembled. Would be a pain to pull everything apart to add/change a NVME drive. Assembly is easy. The CPU drops right in. Piece of cake. Need a good heat sink that will fit in the tight space. I used the the Silverstone XE360-TR5 360mm Liquid Cooler. It fits perfectly and keeps the install clean. Overall this is a great motherboard. It is fast, has infinite setup options, and looks like good support from ASUS. Drivers are updated regularly, works great with Threadripper CPU's.
