These are large sardines with nearly transparent skin and soft bones which are very nutritious but can be removed if desired. Ortiz is the best! **Q: Are the cans bpa free?** A: I checked the can and there is no mention of BPA. I checked Google and I read that if it isn't listed as BPA free then it isn't. After the Trump tariffs on Spain, the price shot up, and at that point I’d rather go with Portuguese sardines. Ortiz has that soft, buttery texture and a richer flavor, in my opinion, compared to the firmer Portuguese style—but taste is personal.
