The machine will “cycle” the compressions, and decompress every 2-3 minutes. I use this opportunity to adjust my feet so the kneading can work another part of the fascia. It’s relatively quiet so I don’t know why anybody would say it’s loud but mine is on carpet. Maybe that makes all the difference. I can honestly say that I believe it’s going to help me. Any good feeling is truly better than a little less feeling in my feet. This foot massager feels wonderful and the massage/pressure are more than enough and I have small feet. This item is very easy to use and I find it easier to just use the manual control because the options are detailed. I am sitting up anyway so it’s easier for me to push the option buttons on top of the massager. I would buy this again and I recommend this item.
