Unless you have something to carry the base with I would say it is very much for car camping only. It is 67lbs and made out of a paddleboard like material. I blew it up once and even after the fifth night of camping it had not lost any air. I did not wake up sore once with this base and even my dog like it. It is very sturdy when walking on it and made my camping experience lovely. When it was time to pack up I let all the air out and folded on the dotted lines.
