Review: Shelly relays, fantastic kit - I use a lot of Shelly relays and always have. These new Gen3 relays are fantastic bits of kit. As the world is getting smarter especially with smart home technology I have customers always asking me if there’s a way they can switch something by WiFi or a way to make Alexa turn they’re outside lights on etc. with Shelly relays the possibilities are pretty much endless for me as an electrician. Customers love them and they’re a breeze to install and setup. The WiFi connectivity works extremely well however if you’re hiding them in a backbox, junction box or in a loft etc anywhere that’s quite out the way from the customers WiFi you may need extenders / access points to ensure a good solid connection.
Review: What a great little device - Incredible little device. I used it to turn a non smart EV charger into something that can be scheduled to come on during my cheap charging tariff. I use a lot of Shelly relays and always have. These new Gen3 relays are fantastic bits of kit. As the world is getting smarter especially with smart home technology I have customers always asking me if there’s a way they can switch something by WiFi or a way to make Alexa turn they’re outside lights on etc. with Shelly relays the possibilities are pretty much endless for me as an electrician. Customers love them and they’re a breeze to install and setup. The WiFi connectivity works extremely well however if you’re hiding them in a backbox, junction box or in a loft etc anywhere that’s quite out the way from the customers WiFi you may need extenders / access points to ensure a good solid connection.

Incredible little device. I used it to turn a non smart EV charger into something that can be scheduled to come on during my cheap charging tariff. It's easy to set up, in my case I've set a schedule and I don't need to access it directly unless I need to turn it on to charge outside those hours. You need to know what you're doing and it's NOT for the high voltage lines, just the low voltage communication ("car is connected") line. Plenty on the internet if you plan to do the same but if you don't know what you're doing, DON'T DO IT!

Does exactly what it says, easy to setup and once setup in the shelly app, after you have created an account, download the skill into Alexa and hey presto!! Very compact, I wondered if they would actually work since the wall light is all metal and effectively due to the metal back box the shelly was mounted inside a metal cage but it still works great.
