Review: Best chicken accessory I’ve ever bought! - Temperature of water, scald time, and speed of drill are all factors to consider. We culled 22 broilers yesterday and this made an entire afternoon chore into a 3.5hr task. There is a slight learning curve but it was easy to get the hang of and easy to use. Only tore one’s breast skin and it was only an inch tear. We got it down to less than two minutes from scald to plucked. The white rubber is definitely sturdy and also more flexible than the black rubber. I thought it seemed a little expensive for just the drill attachment but I’m happy I bought it and would buy another if something happened to this one. I saw another reviewer said theirs rusted but we did not experience this

**Q: Any tips on how to use this properly, so it doesn't tear the skin on the birds?**
A: Just follow our instructions. Use the drill on law speed and remember that all the stages (slaughter-scalding-defeathering) should be effectuated without breaks or interruptions! Do not scald poultries in the boiling water. In the manual we include you will find a table with recommended scalding temperature and duration. If while plucking not all the feather removes, it is necessary to rise the temperature or increase the duration of scalding. If the skin was damaged, it is necessary to decrease the temperature or reduce the time of scalding.

**Q: Do you sell fingers separate?**

**Q: Are the fingers replaceable in case they break off?**
A: When necessary you can do that. The housing is opened on the bottom. These plucking fingers will serve you at least 2-3 years. When you see that it is time to change them, just cut old fingers using a knife and install new ones.

**Q: Can this device be used on quails?**
A: Thank you for your question. Plucking machines with big plucking fingers ( 70, 80, 90 mm ) fit to big poultry only (chicken, duck, goose, turkey). The drum pluckers are a lot more convenient and quicker but this drill attachment is FAR better than plucking by hand. The only issue I had was that I still had to hand pluck the large wing and tail feathers. But I was processing older birds so that may have been part of the issue. Either way, it was easy to use and made the job much quicker than doing it all by hand. Also, it does make a big mess and you might want to wear goggles ... my eye glasses were pretty messy when I was done.
