I decided to give this one a shot and I'm quite happy with it. It's about 1.5 lbs lighter than my heavy duty Gitzo tripod. It can extend just as tall, and I like this one because there's no center leg so I can mount my camera very close to the ground with this one. The legs are sturdy and easy to extend or collapse. It's very stable as well and is a good weight for hiking.
