These self-fruitful trees grow 10-20 feet tall, producing sweet, fresh figs without pollination. Ideal for USDA zones 6-9, they require moderate watering and can tolerate drought once established, making them perfect for patios and gardens seeking a historic, low-maintenance edible fruit. ## Description These iconic plants produce delicious fruit with flavors best experienced ripe from the tree. Unlike other fruits, figs ripen entirely on the branch, so planting your own allows you to harvest the freshest fruit. The common fig tree, thriving in warm climates, does not require pollination to bear new fruit. Figs are self-fruitful, so you need only one plant to produce fruit. Mature fig trees can be 10 to 30 feet tall. If you have more room, plant several. Choose early, mid and late-fruiting selections to extend your harvest from summer into early fall. Some figs will produce bonus fruit early in the season, called a "breba" crop and the main crop. Figs can vary in size, shape, flavor, texture, and harvest time and can be black, green, brown, violet, yellow, or purple. Full sun is essential for an abundant harvest and the sweetest fruit. It's ideal for planting fig trees in an area that receives six to eight hours of direct, daily sunlight. Less sunlight will prevent trees from producing as many figs compared to those planted with adequate light. Fig trees grow in various soil conditions, but slightly acidic and well-drained soils are best. Soil with rich, organic matter helps supplement growth. Regular potting mixes work well for fig trees as long as it retains moisture and is well-aerated. These plants grow well near coastal regions but also tolerate loamy, clay, or sandy conditions. When fruit is developing, it's important to water regularly. Check daily, and pick just as the fruit ripens. During the first year, as plants become established, water regularly and mulch. Once established, figs can be very drought tolerant. ## Features - A Taste of History: Delight in a treat that has captivated palates for centuries. The fig's legacy spans back to 5000 B.C., making it one of the world's earliest domesticated crops. Let its rich history take your taste buds on an enchanting journey through time. - Fig trees flourish in rich, moist, and well drained soil with a nuetral pH. They can handle moderate salinity, but highly acidic soils are not recommended. Mature trees usually range from 10-20 feet tall and can grow up to 20 feet wide. - Fig trees are drought-tolerant but appreciate consistent moisture during fruitful seasons. Adequate mulching will ensure moisture retention, supporting lush fig growth. - Thriving in direct sunlight, fig trees need 6-8 hours of sunlight per day and do best within USDA hardiness zone of 6-9. - Ficus Carica prefer semi-arid climates with warm temperatures and light spring rains. Excessive watering during fruit ripening can hurt the crop. ## Technical Specifications | Specification | Value | |---------------|-------| | ASIN | B0CFYM4VWP | | Best Sellers Rank | #175,401 in Patio, Lawn & Garden ( See Top 100 in Patio, Lawn & Garden ) #581 in Fruit Plants & Seeds | | Brand | Wekiva Foliage | | Brand Name | Wekiva Foliage | | Color | Green | | Customer Reviews | 4.1 out of 5 stars 9 Reviews | | Expected Blooming Period | Spring, Summer | | Expected Planting Period | Spring | | Item Type Name | Fruit Tree | | Item Weight | 16 ounces | | Manufacturer | Wekiva Foliage | | Material Feature | Organic | | Material Features | Organic | | Plant or Animal Product Type | Fruit | | Soil Type | Clay Soil | | Style Name | Olympian | | Sunlight Exposure | Full Sun | | UPC | 754213660031 | | Unit Count | 4 Count | ## Product Details - **Brand:** Wekiva Foliage - **Color:** Green - **Expected Blooming Period:** Spring, Summer - **Expected Planting Period:** Spring - **Item Weight:** 1 Pounds - **Material Feature:** Organic - **Soil Type:** Clay Soil - **Sunlight Exposure:** Partial Sun - **UPC:** 754213661946 - **Unit Count:** 4.0 Count ## Images ![Olympian Fig Tree - 4 Live Starter Plants - Ficus Carica - Edible Fruit Tree for The Patio and Garden - Image 1](https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/71DaNoYm4GL.jpg) ![Olympian Fig Tree - 4 Live Starter Plants - Ficus Carica - Edible Fruit Tree for The Patio and Garden - Image 2](https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/71WUbFhTwwL.jpg) ![Olympian Fig Tree - 4 Live Starter Plants - Ficus Carica - Edible Fruit Tree for The Patio and Garden - Image 3](https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/71mR1dOtbhL.jpg) ![Olympian Fig Tree - 4 Live Starter Plants - Ficus Carica - Edible Fruit Tree for The Patio and Garden - Image 4](https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/71+t7lEH7ZL.jpg) ![Olympian Fig Tree - 4 Live Starter Plants - Ficus Carica - Edible Fruit Tree for The Patio and Garden - Image 5](https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/71X40b1NslL.jpg) ## Available Options This product comes in different **Style** options. ## Frequently Bought Together - Fig Tree Variety Multipack - 4 Live Starter Plants in 2 Inch Grower's Pot - Ficus Carica - Grower's Choice Based on Health Beauty and Availability - Fig Tree Collection (4 Pack) Edible Fruit Plant from Our Optimal Picks | Easy to Grow Plants for Sustainable Living | Grow Your own Food on Your Edible Organic Garden | Live for Planting | No Seeds - Fig Tree Chicago Hardy Live for Sale (4 Pack) | Cold Hardy Easy to Grow Plants | Edible Fruit Plant | Grow Your own Food on Your Edible Organic Garden| Live for Planting| No Seeds --- ## Why Shop on Desertcart? - 🛒 **Trusted by 1.3+ Million Shoppers** — Serving international shoppers since 2016 - 🌍 **Shop Globally** — Access 737+ million products across 21 categories - 💰 **No Hidden Fees** — All customs, duties, and taxes included in the price - 🔄 **15-Day Free Returns** — Hassle-free returns (30 days for PRO members) - 🔒 **Secure Payments** — Trusted payment options with buyer protection - ⭐ **TrustPilot Rated 4.5/5** — Based on 8,000+ happy customer reviews **Shop now:** [https://www.desertcart.co.za/products/593327919-olympian-fig-tree-4-live-starter-plants-ficus-carica-edible](https://www.desertcart.co.za/products/593327919-olympian-fig-tree-4-live-starter-plants-ficus-carica-edible) --- *Product available on Desertcart South Africa* *Store origin: ZA* *Last updated: 2026-10-10*
