A: They are neither metal nor plastic. They are made of medical glass fiberboard. Medical glass fiber is a kind of clean and environment-friendly material. It is the most comfortable and suitable for human body medical devices（back brace）.

**Q: How big is a large**
A: The sizing is given in the product description of the item.  Size Large is 35.4 to 41.3 waist.  I ordered the XL, my waist is 43 inches.  Fits fine.

**Q: how is it sizes?**
A: My son is very thin and the way the straps adjust and adhere with velcro allow for a very good fit.  I think this system would work well for all body types and their sizing system is accurate.

**Q: Does this brace have waist straps?**
