It sometimes flies in a boring circle around and around, looking very unnatural, but if there is a slight breeze it will sometimes pause, hover, and go backwards a little before continuing on around. This looks more natural. It also seems to help if you plant the stake a little at a (tiny) angle so it has to go slightly uphill part way around the circle.
