I was being gingerly and didn't pull it up enough. I haven't used it for any dimming ability because I didn't need it for that. So I don't know if that works and I haven't checked the heat level or how hot it gets, but I'm only running it onto 2 W LED bulbs for my kitchen hood replacement.
