If your coped piece only needs to be "tuned" a little, then medium grit sandpaper or a round file might be better. **Q: does this cut hickory easily? I have a lot of wood to remove.** A: I wouldn't say it cuts at all so much as heavily files. If you have a LOT of wood to remove, I'd look into a spoke shave, draw knife, or rasp saw. That said, I own this set and they are wonderful for rough shaping maple (which is almost as hard as hickory). **Q: Are these made in China?** A: I have not used mine in a few months. I am sure they are marked China. But as long as you use them on softer woods, they should last a while. **Q: Do these remove material on the push stroke or on the pull stroke?** A: On the push stroke as the good ones. ## Frequently Bought Together - NKTM Wood File, Needle File Set Wood Files for Wood Working Wood Rasp Files Tools Golden Tapered Wood Rasp with Rubber Handle in Gift Bag for Carving 2 Pack (8,10 inch) - 9 Shinto Saw Rasp by Shinto - Shinto Saw File S E1101 --- ## Why Shop on Desertcart? - 🛒 **Trusted by 1.3+ Million Shoppers** — Serving international shoppers since 2016 - 🌍 **Shop Globally** — Access 737+ million products across 21 categories - 💰 **No Hidden Fees** — All customs, duties, and taxes included in the price - 🔄 **15-Day Free Returns** — Hassle-free returns (30 days for PRO members) - 🔒 **Secure Payments** — Trusted payment options with buyer protection - ⭐ **TrustPilot Rated 4.5/5** — Based on 8,000+ happy customer reviews **Shop now:** [https://www.desertcart.co.za/products/57055138-wood-file-needle-file-set-wood-files-for-wood-working](https://www.desertcart.co.za/products/57055138-wood-file-needle-file-set-wood-files-for-wood-working) --- *Product available on Desertcart South Africa* *Store origin: ZA* *Last updated: 2026-10-03*
