Review: Room mapping is a key feature - This is our second Eufy robot vacuum. The first one was the kind that just randomly vacuums wherever it wants until the battery dies, and it always had a full dirt cup so we trusted that it was getting the job done. The problem was pet accidents (are they?) from a particular dog (not a puppy) in our household. I thoroughly cleaned the thing several times, but I had to take it apart and by the 5th or 6th time this happened I just had to get rid of it and we went without a robo vacuum, and we noticed, and we missed it. I am absolutely not spending more than $300 on one of these robots, since any vacuums in homes with pets inevitably become stinky after a while even if they're not running over poop, so the Eufy has the right price and the technology is good. I'm delighted with this one so far. It sounds way more powerful, I can hear it cranking into high suction when it goes over the rug, and the room mapping means I can give it a sequence and it will work on one room at a time. I love being able to check in the app and see if it's stuck somewhere or if it actually finished vacuuming the whole area. We used to lose the old one that didn't have accurate positioning. I just moved a big potted plant and it left some dirt on the floor. I opened the app and tapped on zone mode and drew a little square where the plant was moved from, and hit start and the robot just came right straight over, adjusted the map to erase the potted plant obstruction, and vacuumed a nice tidy little square, getting all the dirt up, and went back home. That is science and precision right there! I do wish that I got a model that came with the brush roll that avoids hair-wrapping, because I have had to pull the roller out and cut the hair off it 3 times already for the first 6 runs. Also the extra LIDAR module on top of the vacuum makes it unable to get underneath a few pieces of our furniture that the old one was able to. I like that the app tracks how many hours this thing has run and I suppose it will suggest replacement filters and stuff that I can stay on top of and avoid the vacuum stink and keep this one around for longer. The dog seems to have gotten her act together.
Review: More like a butler than a robot - I've been holding out on getting a new robot vacuum until I found one I liked that could map rooms for specific cleaning. I'm soooo SOOO happy with this one. PROS: - It's quick mapping is so easy and accurate. It's better than robots that just meander until they bump into stuff. Its like this robot actually sees things and can tell what it can go around vs what it can go under but still an object. It gets as far into nooks and crannies as it can. - It is great at remembering where it has already been and where it may have missed because a kid or animal got in it's way and going back over the spot. - It gets so much out of the carpet. - It is so fast. I didn't realize before how slowly my previous robot vacuums were when they were mapping or moving between rooms. When this one is told to go to a room, it goes straight to it very quickly. - I'm happy with it's runtime. It takes me 2+ hours to vacuum the entire house. This bot can run for 90ish minutes since most of the floor is hardwood. APP PROS: The app has a lot of ways to customize the cleaning which I appreciate. My toddler spilled a bunch of salt in the kitchen and instead of having to have it clean the whole room I could make a virtual zone and have it go to work. I combined a room cleaning with a virtual boundary so it wouldn't bump into the door while my baby was sleeping. My favorite though is if it gets interrupted it will show a message on top of the map saying exactly what happened. (See pic) I forgot I left a virtual boundary so it couldn't clean their room. I just removed it and sent it back. I love that you can combine cleaning modes in the app. It's so easy to merge and separate rooms. APP CON: I can't find an easy way to get it to clean sunken rooms that it can't get to by itself. (See pic 2) It might be user error on my part. I *think* maybe if I put it in the room it might figure out the positioning based on home base distance or virtual mapping? But I haven't had the chance to try yet. So far ive just made it add a new map. It will return to it's starting position when done instead of home base. CONS: Really I don't have anything I'd call a con. It doesn't tell you if the dust bin is full but I just empty it after each run since it's base is next to the trash can. I wish there was an option to tell it to remap only a certain area. I had a room closed the first time it mapped and didn't see a way to edit so I did a new mapping. I think maybe if I told it to auto clean it would have found it but haven't tried. If that is the case there is nothing in the app to indicate it would work that way or what to do if a room needs to be remapped due to furniture movement etc.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: Does it pick up cat litter?**
A: Yes! It does an excellent job on picking up litter! I have an extremely messy 9month old kitten and she constantly get litter all over the place.

**Q: I have black and white carpets that robotvacs will not go over and I live in a single story house with no stairs. Can you turn off ledge detection?**
A: Kindly advised that our RoboVac 11S Max detects with infrared ray and very dark-coloured objects/carpets absorb the ray, so the RoboVac will not be able to recognize them. If your house doesn't have a stair, you can cover the 3 drop sensors with white tape.

**Q: Which model is best for pet hair?**
A: Please use the Max mode or spot cleaning model to clean the pet hair. Also, please clean the accessories and the suction inlet more frequently if your house has the pet.

**Q: when will the accessories be available? my filter is in a blue compact and you can't remove the filter**
A: You can order the brush accessories via the following links.

T2904031 Brush Guard: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07CWRJWLF
T2905031 Side Brush (x4): https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07CWSS5GZ
T2907031 Rolling Brush: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07CWRQK6M

The filter and the dust collector for our 11S Max can't be interchangeable for our 11S series, and the filter is estimated to arrive at the warehouse around the mid in August. Could you please wait for it? Please contact our support if you need any assistance.

### ⭐ Great concept, riddled by poor software. Low cleaning success. Easily gets stuck.
*by P***S on November 30, 2024*

We purchased this vac back in May, and its been in operation now for 6 months. We've used it 93 times, and it has successfully completed cleaning only 14 times (15% success rate) which is dismal. We also own several Roomba and Neato models, for comparison. The first problem with this robot is software. There are some bad habits that its programmed for. One, for example, is attempting to go into a corner that it cant reach because of obstacles. It keeps coming back OVER AND OVER AND OVER again to the same spot. There is not enough entropy in the model that would free it from trying to do something that is simply impossible. Simply introducing some entropy to its discovery model, and maybe dropping it to a SLAM model for a minute would get it out of this mess. Next is obstacles. While the company claims it can clear obstacles that are 20mm high, that is a bit of a stretch. It regularly attempts to go over thresholds and table legs (the T kind), and it regularly gets stuck on top of the leg. It attempts to get out and it will never succeed. Whats even worse, once it gets stuck at a location that it has fully and clearly mapped... it will keep going there... and it will keep getting stuck there... at the same spot... OVER AND OVER AND OVER again. There is no map optimization given failure spots. Ultimately, it will get stuck and won't go anywhere... so you pick it up... move it 10 feet away, and resume... BUT... it goes to the same spot it got stuck in... and again... attempts to get stuck again. Its almost comical watching it do so. Next, cords. These can be a problem for any vacuum cleaner, robot or not... but the Eufy seems to have excessive problem with this. It will get stuck on a cord, and it will never free itself. This is something Roomba has mastered, even back to the 200 series. Next is the battery: given the dismal error recovery procedure where it just keeps repeating the same mistake, it will deplete its battery to the point that the robot will get stuck somewhere, keeps failing to escape... and kills its own battery. Good luck finding the robot at that point. Due to the poor error recovery procedures, I would suggest saving 10% of the battery so it can play an audio beacon on demand when the owner tries to find the stuck robot. There are some things Eufy got right with this: for example the LIDAR is pretty nicely designed. Its relatively low profile so its good under our furniture. From looking at it on an IR camera, it looks like it scans at about 18 degree slices and its fairly effective in mapping. The vacuum portion of the system is also decent and operates well. Its quieter than all our Roombas. The app is nicely designed, but I could do without the ads. The only issue is that since it gets stuck so often, it hampers giving this thing more than 1 star when it gets stuck about 6 out of every 7 times we try to use it (which is an approximation of our 15% success rate)... it ultimately fails as a robot vacuum cleaner. I realize there are many many reviews on this, and there are people who are happy with this... so take this as my opinion, based on our sample (using a multi-vendor frame of reference).
