## Description

LIFX Beam Kit is a Wi-Fi enabled LED modular light surface with millions of beautiful colors—no hub required. You should not install your LIFX Beam Kit on a ceiling or in an upside down position. While the 3M adhesive binds strongly to surfaces it is recommended that you install your LIFX Beam Kit in a safe area

Review: Not nearly as bad as all the negative reviews have them out to be. - Despite all the negative reviews, I figured I would purchase a set and give it a shot because I love the way they look. The installation was simple enough that I was able to install the units without reading the instructions. My advice though would be to install the units as if they did not have those 3M Velcro adhesive strips and treat them like simple adhesive strips. I tried to install a beam by applying the velcro strip to the wall then stick the beam to the strip and it was incredibly difficult and required a lot of force to get the beam to attach to the velcro. As for the multiple comments about the lack of brightness control, maybe they had an older version of the app, but there is brightness control for the app as well as brightness control through google home. Connection to the app and wifi was similar to other smart home setups, nothing overtly difficult or easier than other apps. I purchased the units around black Friday so they were $99, not the retail $150. Even at $99 I would not say they're a good deal. I think $99 should be retail and anything less than that would be the sale. Overall, I love them and who knows, maybe all the negative reviews are right and they will suck over time. But as of under a week of owning them, they're great, fun, and nice to look at. UPDATE: I have now owned these for 4 months, still as sturdy and bright as the day I installed them. No complaints, still in love with them. UPDATE 2: They're still up and running no problem, about 5 years later. My stance on the price still stands, especially since a lot of other competition is making similar lights. Cheers.
Review: Beam is really nice - Product is a bit finicky to set up but isn't too bad overall, once setup and put on the wall they are extremely bright and function well. I do wish the connectors were different like on the Tile or a Nanoleaf. I wasn't a huge fan of the small magnets they used for connections but they have stayed up with no issue.

**Q: What is the total length when all 6 r connected? How long is the cord from the wall to where it actually connects to strip?**
A: They are roughly 12" per beam so 6 feet total (Beam: 11.8 x 1.37 x 0.78 in). The cord measures at Cable Length 0.5m cable from Power Plug to Controller. 2.0m cable from Controller Unit to Beam.

**Q: Is it possible to buy extra corner pieces, separate from the 6-pack Beam kit?**
A: Currently, only kits are available. No spare pieces are available for purchase alone.

**Q: Do they all have to be connected in order to work ?**
A: You do not have to connect all six. You could have a strip of five with one beam left over to use for a different arrangement.

**Q: I’m looking to put these in the corner of my room. Does the connector piece work for 90 deg turns? So they run on two walls? Or does it just lay flat?**
A: Although it doesn't cross walls.... I have two ideas that MAY get you the look you desire.
1) place it on the ceiling (or floor) right in the corner so that half of the light is splashes down on one wall and the other half on the wall right next to it
2)buy two of the beams and have the ends meet in the corner at any height on the two adjacent walls

Despite all the negative reviews, I figured I would purchase a set and give it a shot because I love the way they look. ### ⭐ 2023 update: Can't recommend this

Update two years later: they released a firmware update in December 2022 that ruins the device. It will constantly do the power on scan where it searches to see how many beams are connected. This is a known issue and the only fix is having them send you a new hub. It is mind boggling how creating more e-waste is the only solution for a firmware bug. Old review: I'm not sure if there's some issue with my network that would cause these to frequently disconnect, but this is the only smart device out of dozens that has this issue. It is currently connected to my 2.4ghz network and I will often have to completely unplug it from the wall for it to respond. Other than that, this is a pretty awesome accent light. It gets surprisingly bright and the colors are extremely saturated. If that's the kind of thing you're going for, I would definitely recommend it. The presets look amazing.
