Box UI doesn't look like all the youtube videos the company pushes for a visual manual. The actual manual is broken english and hard to understand. Can't even Google to find specific important info on this product. Only the usual poor youtube guides come up. Tried contacting 3 different ways,(amazon reply email, website email contact, oh and live online thing) have not heard back.Unit says it's online and it does "find" one of my 5 IPCams but when you add it the status goes from connecting to check network settings (yeah where do you want me to check, which menu on the UI or my router, who knows it doesn't expand on any details) then the status changes to Server Broken. Well do you think that is worth a mention in the manual.... No, and it's not on google either.Ports have been forwarded, static IP, DHCP, no settings seem to change this happening and even when manually adding through the Advanced Add menu, the same thing. Some menus do not retain information that was entered.Have also gotten a message that said some recording failed, haven't even got to that part yet for set up.????I have never been so frustrated with a device before, because prior times if troubles occur with something 99% of the time someone else has had the same problem and a solution could be found on the internet. Not with this item. Can't even find if there is an firmware upgrade even though it has a menu for upgrading.If anyone has had any success with this unit and IP cameras, port forwarding and all that goes with the set up please let me know. I am one hopeless realization away from factory reset and returning it. 2 days of trying to set this up for many many hours. I have other stuff that needs doing and can not spend all these hours trying to see my cameras with this. UGHThe only way this review will be changed is if this thing starts working as it should in the next 24 hours.Update.... Ups is already scheduled to pick up package for return. Finally heard from company but a bit late for my frustration level with this product (and it is hard to get my frustration level that high). There may have been a snafu with their "live" chat thing on the website, because it just did not work on my side. The software should be MORE(wait not MORE it should BE) user friendly for setup. I have seen this mentioned on other dvrs by ventech. Sorry it didn't work out in time. First off, the email with the video links was faultly. None of the links would open. This is where all the instructions were for setting it up: for the iPhone, the pc and saving info. Next, it would not recognize the modem for a wireless connection. Also, it would not pick up the motion from the outside as stated that it would do this. The pictures were clear and vivid; that's about the only thing that was good. I am not a tech savy person so I hired a geek person in my neighborhood who works for a security monitoring company in this area. He does this on the week ends and his remark, "It's a piece of crap. send it back immediately and I would not have this dvd system." He told me to use another brand, I won't say which one and it wasn't any equipment he might be trying to sell which he didn't try He referred me to several brands on Amazon. He was completely neutral on that issue. I will say that the mailing was fast and I received it as promised with Amazon Prime. When I emailed the co,. that none of the video links would open, he replied by asking me had I downloaded the software. Well, dud, my geek person, couldn't do that if there was no link to do so. Bottom link, don't buy this unless you have time to try to research YouTube to try!or time to go through all the problems that promised.
