The chrome tubes appear to be hollow. The top width is 15in, the bottom width is 8in, and the height is 10in. Update (7/28/20): I added some fruits to the bowl and took new pics to show it's sturdiness (2 onions, 3 lg Honeycrisp apples, a tomato, 2 lg peaches, a lemon, and a package of snacking tomatoes). Note, that if you have soft ripe fruits, they may end up dented (see peach photo).
