Despite using filtered water I did have to descale it a few days ago, but that's just from brewing so much. I bought this while it was on sale, which was still a pretty penny, BUT it's pretty sweet. Mine failed under normal household use in a timeframe that is completely unacceptable for an appliance at this price point.
