No longer, they make using the sink so much easier when items you put in don't tip and slide towards the drain! Well worth the price over a discount sink. I will note that the basket strainer does not come with a tail piece but be warned, it is a European style so you will likely need an adapter to make one fit properly. Take both strainers with you to the hardware store, and consider getting a "dual sink" drain kit. The basket strainer is great but much deeper than the other, so hooking up your drains may be an issue. We had to put the basket on the right, even though we preferred it on the left, in order to have enough room for a proper fall - and our P-trap is under the floor! I have a 33" kitchen sink base cabinet and I wanted to maximize the size of the sink that I installed. This sink isn't recommended for a 33" base cabinet, but with a little trimming of the wood on the inside of the cabinet, we managed to slip it in... It's a very nice quality, heavy-duty stainless steel. It seems to be easy to clean thus far, and the baskets that came with it for strainers are superior to what I've used before. The stoppers work very well for filling sink with water and the included wire racks are a must...they keep the sink looking nice. The depth is perfect for having your dishes soak in the sink prior to washing... This sink is far superior than anything I could find at local home improvement centers.
