The Hive is hexagonal with six flat sides. The flat striking surfaces create more contact between the Ferro Rod and striker which causes more material to be removed when striking, meaning larger showers of molten sparks! Both Ferro Rod sizes are super thick, allowing for up to 20,000 strikes. All of our Ferro Rods are manufactured using our Forest Fundamentals Ferrocerium blend; the optimum balance between softness and durability. Our Ferro Rods throw down large showers of sparks, but we were also careful not to make the rods too soft to ensure longevity. The Hive comes in two sizes: 4" and 8" lengths. As all of our Ferro Rods are fairly large, we wanted to offer something a little smaller that could easily fit inside survival or fire-kit tins. Our Stealth Fire Strikers have been designed from scratch and manufactured from heat-treated steel — this striker will surpass all of your fire-lighting needs.
