For me at least i think the big concern comes in matching it size to the rod paying attention to the angle to first guide on the pole. I have been using my Okuma ABF 65 for going on 10 years and while i dont fish as often as i would like i have upgraded the pole i use with this reel three times. The ABF 6000 and ABF-B 6500 are heavy duty reels I use for catfishing. I do feel the increased capacity of the 6500 is worth the extra cost. Additionally, the bait runner switch on the 6500 is activated by flipping the switch in the opposite direction than that of the 6000 which is an improvement as well. If you slide the 6000 in a rod holder you can accidentally activate the bait runner inadvertently. Either way both are great, but in my opinion the ABF series is a step up in both lane capacity and the way the bait runner switch works.
