I bought the 6 piece set, which did not include the 14B. **Q: These are said to be a unique pencil product. how do they differ from staedtler’s mars lumograph black pencils which also offer a low shine finish?** A: Both the Mars Lumograph and the Fabre Castels are excellent dark pencils. However, there is still a sheen on the Mars. The Fabercastles offer a beautiful mat finish . I can describe it as a cross between charcoal and graphite. It is unlike any other pencils I have tried. I hope this helps. JF **Q: Are these as smooth feeling as the Faber Castell 9000?** A: I use a brush or a blending stump to get a smooth look. I try not to press heavy with any pencil because it ruins the paper. I use all different types of graphite pencils and I like these the most only because they are a matte finish; It doesn’t leave a shiny glare when you move the drawing towards light or by tilting it when you go dark with the graphite pencils…I also incorporate charcoal to keep everything in a matte finish.
