Review: Great training tool! - Our pet trainer suggested this when we began working on "heel" with our one year old Morkie (Maltese/Yorkie mix). People with bigger dogs can hold a treat at their side and usually get the dog's attention without bending over, but the extension on this tool is great- we use peanut butter mostly for ours- just dip the end in the treat and you can use it to get the dog's attention. The clicker on this is really great too, I started out with a different, smaller clicker and it was hard to "master", this one is easy and makes a pretty loud "click" sound. I'm happy with this. I wish I had bought it when we began training him! The only down side is user error... I have to be careful where I aim as I have ended up putting peanut butter on my dog's head a number of times :)

She needs predictability to feel secure, and playing "touch" has become one of her favorite routines. If a dog can look happy, she certainly does. Our two boys have done most of the training with this, and it's so rewarding and easy that they love doing it. Our first of these target sticks eventually broke after two years of hard use (the telescoping metal broke off at one of the joints), but we easily got more than out money's worth out of it and I had no problem spending the money on a replacement.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: The description has me a bit confused; will this still click while the rod is extended?**
A: Yes!  You hold the purple handle and the green ball on the end is attached to an antenna-- you can extend it anywhere from a few inches to a few feet.  Then, just click the "clicker" with your thumb!  I love this tool for training.  The clicker is very easy to use.

**Q: I have a small cockapoo who sometimes refuses to walk on leash.  Can I put a treat on the end of stick to coax him along**
A: This stick is intended to be a target.  Look up Karen Pryor's books on clicker training, you would teach your dog to touch the end of the stick to get a click/treat.  Then you can use the stick as a target for him and he will want to walk and touch the end of the stick to get a click and a treat.  That's training the dog.  If you don't want to work on the training, you could easily put some peanut butter on the end of a wooden spoon to get the results you are asking about.  Your dog might come along and try to lick the peanut butter or whatever other treat.  Good luck

**Q: Does this come with the training book?  It shows it in website**
A: It comes with a small booklet, but if this is your first exposure to clicker training, you would be better served with a more comprehensive book, or a video.   Clicker training is very effects, but timing is very important

**Q: This sound fun, I'm not really understanding target training. Where might I get information?**
A: Susan Garret on you tube has a clear and excellent video using this same tool and she gives the reasons for this targeting.  She trained dogs for movies among other things.  Stellar unique famous trainer.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Awesome training tool

Bought it to clicker train my cat. The little green ball on the end makes it easy for him to follow & the click sound is very audible, not too loud but he can definitely hear it. Recommend using a gentle touch when you pull out the telescoping stick. It can be a little “sticky” & if you use too much pressure or pull too hard I feel it might come apart. Mine has not done that yet, but I think I could . Just use a little TLC. I’m pleased with this training tool.
