SFF build and all. It worked perfectly. The stock screws had no problem threading into this. My only super-petty tiny minor gripe is how plain this thing looks. You never see this when it's installed so aesthetics would be meaningless but, still. Just make sure to protect your socket pins when installing! Review: Likely needs modification for your board - Required modification to fit to ASRock X870 Pro RS as there are components on the back of the board. Had to cut close to screw holes to fit it. Once modified it worked just as one would expect. I am sure the cost could come down if they just made a slim square around the screw holes and left out most of the material, it appears with 2of the holes that is the minimum width to create the bracket. ## Features - SHORTENED MOUNTING PLATE - Replaces original AM5 backplate - EXTENDED COOLER COMPATIBILITY - Works with various CPU coolers - ANODIZED ALUMINUM - With a polycarbonate insulation Layer - DIMENSIONS - 68 mm / 65 mm / 3 mm ## Technical Specifications | Specification | Value | |---------------|-------| | ASIN | B0BVKYZ1RR | | Best Sellers Rank | #162 in Thermal Pads #687 in Water Cooling Systems | | Brand Name | Thermal Grizzly | | Care instructions | Hand Wash Only | | Color | Black | | Customer Reviews | 3.8 out of 5 stars 17 Reviews | | Finish Types | Anodized | | Global Trade Identification Number | 04260711990670 | | Included Components | 1x Thermal Grizzly AM5 Short Backplate | | Item Depth | 3 millimeters | | Item Dimensions | 10 x 4 x 2 inches | | Item Weight | 0.04 kg | | Manufacturer | Thermal Grizzly | | Manufacturer Part Number | TG-SB-R7000-R | | Manufacturer Warranty Description | One year manufacturer | | Material Type | Metal | | Model Number | TG-SB-R7000-R | | Mounting Type | Motherboard Mount | | Unit Count | 1 Count | ## Images ![Thermal Grizzly AM5 Short Backplate - Extends Cooler Compatibility | for AMD AM5 Motherboards - Shortened Mounting Plate to Replace The Original AM5 Backplate - Image 1](https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/711HaUm2ChL.jpg) ## Customer Reviews ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Worked Great, Easy Install *by R***. on April 8, 2024* I purchased this so I could install the Alpehfohn Black Ridge on my AM5 motherboard. Had to cut close to screw holes to fit it. Once modified it worked just as one would expect. Roman, give my money back LOL *by S***R on June 5, 2023* First I bought the delid tool for 7950x and the direct die kit. The temps were horrible with my 3x120mm rad and Heatkiller CPU waterblock. Worse than original, reaching 120c and shutting down. I thought the mounting pressure was not enough and ordered the short backplate (this product) and over that put the original backplate and mounted my CPU block. Still horrible temps. The issue is that you will never be able to mount it flush to your CPU block thus the horrible temps. DO NOT DELID RYZEN 7000!!! Seriously :) ## Frequently Bought Together - Thermal Grizzly - AM5 Short Backplate - Extends Cooler Compatibility for AMD AM5 Motherboards - Shortened Mounting Plate to Replace The Original AM5 Backplate - Noctua NF-A12x25 PWM chromax.Black.swap, Premium Quiet Fan, 4-Pin (120mm, Black) - Thermalright ASF-Black AM5 CPU Holder, Corrective Anti-Bending Fixing Frame, AM5 Full-fit Fixed Non-Marking Mounter, AM5 Anti-Bending Contact Frame, CPU Cooler Standard --- ## Why Shop on Desertcart? - 🛒 **Trusted by 1.3+ Million Shoppers** — Serving international shoppers since 2016 - 🌍 **Shop Globally** — Access 737+ million products across 21 categories - 💰 **No Hidden Fees** — All customs, duties, and taxes included in the price - 🔄 **15-Day Free Returns** — Hassle-free returns (30 days for PRO members) - 🔒 **Secure Payments** — Trusted payment options with buyer protection - ⭐ **TrustPilot Rated 4.5/5** — Based on 8,000+ happy customer reviews **Shop now:** [https://www.desertcart.co.za/products/523949697-thermal-grizzly-am5-short-backplate-extends-cooler-compatibility-for-amd](https://www.desertcart.co.za/products/523949697-thermal-grizzly-am5-short-backplate-extends-cooler-compatibility-for-amd) --- *Product available on Desertcart South Africa* *Store origin: ZA* *Last updated: 2026-11-03*
