Not as good as previous films
One of the biggest issues with "Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero" was the way it messed up some of the previous lore and character development. The film made it seem like all the training and hard work that Goku, Vegeta, and other characters went through was pointless, because they could have just wished to become stronger. This undermined the core themes of the series, which emphasized the importance of discipline, hard work, and perseverance.Additionally, the film made some questionable choices with the character development of Gohan. He suddenly becomes incredibly powerful just by concentrating, which makes Goku and Vegeta's training and sacrifices look silly. This feels like a disservice to these characters and their journeys, as well as an abrupt change to Gohan's own arc.The handling of Cell, the main villain of the film, was also problematic. The movie presented him as an even more powerful and dangerous foe than in the original series, but then quickly resolved his storyline in a very easy and unsatisfying way. This felt like a missed opportunity to create a truly epic and memorable villain for the movie. On the positive side, the film did have some exciting action scenes, and the animation was top-notch. The score and special effects were also impressive, and the film had a generally fast-paced and entertaining vibe. However, these positive aspects were not enough to make up for the flaws and inconsistencies that plagued the movie.Overall, "Dragon Ball Super" had some redeeming qualities, but it ultimately failed to live up to the standards set by the franchise. It will likely appeal to die-hard fans who are willing to overlook its flaws, but for the average viewer, it may be a disappointing experience.
