It had actually broken last year, but I was still able to work it with pliers; but now it’s more broken and I can’t even make it work with pliers. Bummer! I love this tool! But the tensioning knob is plastic, and not well made enough to resist the force required to tension the chain correctly. I’m not sure if I will buy another saw; perhaps, knowing this weakness, I’d be able to avoid it breaking again? Incredibly useful tool! The handheld chainsaw is much lighter and easier to handle than the large corded chainsaw that I used to use, and I was able to operate it while perched on a ladder without worrying that I would accidentally drop it or injure myself. The unit does not heat up while in use, features safety mechanisms to prevent accidental start-up, and is compact enough for even me to use for extended periods without getting tired.
