Be gentle when scooping the yogurt out of it. I then treated myself to the metal mesh one (which I had been "Jonesing" for) and it doesn't work as well. With this strainer I could make almost 3 quarts of Greek yogurt from yogurt made with a gallon of milk. The whey that was drained off was clear and golden. With the metal strainer the drained product was milky yellow and I was unable to get two full quarts of yogurt with the same gallon of milk. I'm assuming that I was throwing away a lot of yogurt that drained through the less fine mesh. **Q: Canthis item be used in the 6 quart Instant pot?** A: No, the item is used AFTER you make your yogurt in the IP. Once your yogurt is completed in the IP, you turn pour it into this product to separate out the whey. The longer you let it sit, the thicker your yogurt becomes. **Q: Next question- this reads to me as the strainer to make yogurt into Greek Yogurt. Any recommendations on a Yogurt maker to accompany this?** A: You do not need a yogurt maker. I make the yogurt in the oven in a deep dish casserole (big enough to hold 1/2 gallon of milk).
