When you open the lid, you need a spot that is 8 3/4" high. Hope this helps. I have really enjoyed this box. I bought a second one to use for storing small items in the bathroom and another one for storing fingernail polish, etc. Works great as a tea storage box also, :) **Q: How many teabags does it hold?** A: I put in about 3 boxes of the Tazo tea in there. Maybe slightly less packets are left out. I don't know if this helps. For a plastic box it looks kind of pretty with the colorful tea bags. **Q: Is it airtight? Sp that I could store Celestial Seasonings or other not-sealed bags?** A: I would not consider this airtight, as the lid lifts to open. I love this container, very handy especiallyfor guests. They can choose their flavor of tea bag. **Q: do the dividers come out?** A: I don't believe so. To that I say "you get what you pay for." I had fumbled with a variety of six boxes of tea too long and they took up too much space in my small cabinet. I needed to consolidate my favorite teas into a "quick pick" organizer. I found this organizer, placed the order, and prepared myself to be disappointed. To my surprise it is beautiful! It comfortably holds about 60 sealed tea pouches that can be sorted into 6 bins. The Bigelow Family teas are my favorite and they fit perfectly as if the box was made for them. The top front edge of the lid is nicely rolled, meets the box edge flush, and closes in perfect alignment. All other corners are rounded uniformly. If they used an adhesive to assemble this box, I do not see any evidence of it. Very well engineered in comparison to high-end container store merchandise. An exceptional value delivered in a retail box ready for gift wrapping.
