Getting the dirt out of the wool will soften it. However, if you are allergic to lanolin in wool, realize that this product has lanolin in it to revitalize the wool. It surely softened my rugs. I had to work diligently at separating the fibers as it dried and when dry. **Q: any enzymes (e.g. protease or other) in the ingredients?** A: There are no enzymes in Outback Gold. **Q: Is it organic?** A: You would need to check the label. We used up our product so I don’t have the bottle anymore. **Q: Can you use this just as a conditioner to rub on the sheepskin hide to soften it?
