### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Soft drumsticks for my old electronic pads.

Anybody hoping for a review of how these are on timpani should probably move on, since I'm using these to give myself more of a drumming feel when I use electronic drum pads. I have a Roland Octapad 2 that I've had for years, and the "drum" heads are getting a little too old to withstand ordinary drumsticks anymore, it seems that the plastic heads no longer like being struck by a typical drumstick. so I thought I'd keep the drumstick "feel" and use softer heads on the sticks than wood on plastic.The felt beaters on these are still very firm - there's nothing soft about felt in this application! The impacts on the Octapad, though, is spread over a slightly larger area which I feel will improve the remaining life of the drum heads. There is a slight but perceptible effect on the velocity sensed by the Octapad, but that can be corrected in a DAW or by adjusting the sensitivity profiles of the drum heads. For me, it isn't enough to warrant fiddling with software settings, I can live with it.The main thing for me is to help eke out the remaining life in my older equipment, and I think these will do a fine job of that. The hardness of the beater head (about the same as the old rubber mallet used by doctors to get a knee-jerk reaction, hard but not quite painful) is enough to give a brisk response while treating my elderly Octapad with love.I have tried these also on my cajon, and while they are less subtle than a hand full of fingers (harder to get very fast rolls!) they actually create a nice robust sound that I can definitely use.I apologise again to any timpani users out there, but I have some old kit that needs a gentler touch and these fit the bill. Needs must, when the devil drives.
