Great Anime, Wonderful Packaging - a bit Pricey

*by N***M on Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 28 June 2015*

This is the third and final release of the anime series Kill la Kill by AllTheAnime / Anime Ltd.At the time of buying part three I have part one but not part two. My reason for buying the third before the second was twofold: the price of the second part (I'll discuss this later) and the third collector's edition comes with a limited release box to house all 3 parts. The box (pictures included with this review) is a nice quality black container, it features red detailing on the 'KILL la KILL' text and underneath the lid aswell as a picture of Ryuko on the spine. The box itself can be opened by an asymmetrical lid which lifts off the top which reveals the enclosed boxsets. When you first open the box you will see the actual Blu-ray (BD) box itself along with some cardboard padding - to stop movement during shipping. The actual packaging is again of a nice quality - it is a glossy coated thick cardboard - and is not dissimilar to the first part of the release. It contains the digipack with the BD and an artbook of scenery and background art. The only difference between this and part one is that this one is significantly thinner (comparison is shown in pictures). This is due to this final release containing fewer episodes than the previous releases, with all the content fitting on just the one disc (part one had two BDs).On the disc you get:- Episodes 20-24 plus the OVA episode 25- Clean Opening and Ending + clean episode 24 Ending- OVA Episode 25 Web previews- KILL la KILL Digest: Naked Memories by Aikuro Mikisugi. So for the price you're not getting a terrible lot; A few episodes and a few extras. I pre-ordered at the price of £43 (it has since increased in price) and considering I got part one for around half that, I feel as though I'm losing out a little. If it weren't for the limited number collector's box (I admit I got suckered in by it) I would have put this off until it inevitably drops in price. So if you're not interested in the box and just want the anime, I would say hold off for a bit, see if the price goes down and then consider picking it up.All in all, Its a good anime -- you can read reviews from part 1 to find out what the general gist is -- and its a nice quality release as always from AllTheAnime, but I think paying over £100 for a three-part, 25 episode anime on Blu-ray stings a little.

An insane end for and insane series

*by T***R on Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 23 July 2015*

This third and final collection of episodes for the brilliantly insane 'Kill la Kill' anime contains the final five episodes (episodes 20 to 24) as well as the episode 25 Graduation OVA. This final section of the series has a few interesting twists as well as some of the best battles the series has produced as the show reaches its fittingly insane finale and the final confrontation against Ragyo and the emotional conclusion of the story. The episode 25 OVA is also a very good way to finish the series off with a great mixture of action and comedy. The animation of these episodes is equal to that of the rest of the series with the usual mixture of spectacular and cheap animation that gives the series its unique style. The voice acting of the English dub is also just as good as it has been for the rest of the series, although I would say that Stephanie Sheh doesn't do quite as good a job at Nui's insane voice as Yukari Tamura does in the original Japanese but this is only a minor issue and all the other English voices are great. For special features, this collection includes the usual clean versions of the Opening and Ending songs. There is also a sub only recap of the entire series from the perspective of Aikuro Mikisugi and a booklet of concept art for the series. The best part of this collection however is that it includes a very nice black case to keep all three of the collections in together.'Kill la Kill' is one of those series that will definitely not to everybody's taste with a high level of fanservice, and some minor profanity in the English dub, but it is so gloriously insane and such a fun ride that many others will find it a glorious ride. I am someone strongly in the second camp and would give this collection, and the series as a whole, a very strong five stars.

*by M***L on Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 3 March 2016*

Not the best Anime series I've watched but still good enough to recomend to others to try. The downside is that it was vey expensive to buy the special edition set which didn't deliver enough to warent the price charged.
