It does make a very slight noise but more like a soft purr, so not annoying. My mum is bedridden so I laid it on her tummy and she touched it and then kept her hand on its head. The 'breathing' is very life-like. It has a cute little collar and tag round its neck and bed and adoption paper. Very happy with this purchase. She has dementia, and wondered if it was real, but wasn't freaked out that it wasn't.
